The people who build
America's technology infrastructure.
Recruitment for mission-critical construction. We place the project, electrical, mechanical and commissioning leaders behind data centers, power and grid, semiconductor plants and fiber networks.
Mission-critical, before it made the news.
Our infrastructure recruiters have spent their careers placing the people who build critical facilities. These are the sectors they know.
- Data centers
- Hyperscale, AI and colocation campuses, from land and power through commissioning and handover.
- Power and grid
- Substations, transmission and interconnection, and the on-site generation that new campuses now bring with them.
- Semiconductors and advanced manufacturing
- Fabs and battery plants, where cleanroom, process-utility and commissioning experience carries straight across.
- Telecoms and fiber
- Long-haul and metro fiber, and the network builds that tie campuses together.
Every phase of the build, from land to live.
Data center, fab or substation, the hiring follows the order of the build, and so do the gaps.
- 01
Land and power
- Site selection and development directors
- Land and power acquisition managers
- Utility interconnection managers
- Entitlement and permitting leads
Power decides where a mission-critical site goes, and local approval decides whether it gets built: in the first quarter of 2026, 75 US data-center projects worth $130B were blocked or delayed. The people who have landed an interconnection agreement and carried a rezoning through are few.
- 02
Design and pre-construction
- Electrical and mechanical design engineers (PE)
- MEP design managers
- Pre-construction managers
- MEP estimators
- Long-lead procurement managers
Whoever secures the transformers, switchgear and generators sets the schedule. CBRE reports data-center ready-for-service dates slipping because of MEP equipment constraints.
- 03
Construction delivery
- Project directors and senior project managers
- General superintendents
- MEP coordinators
- Planners and schedulers
- QA/QC managers
- Site safety managers
Mission-critical delivery is a hard filter, and much of the new capacity sits far from the big metros, in West Texas, Ohio and Louisiana. The right superintendent usually has to relocate or rotate.
- 04
Power and electrical
- Electrical superintendents
- Medium- and high-voltage engineers
- Substation project managers
- Electrical project managers
- EPMS and SCADA controls engineers
Electrician demand has surged with data-center construction. The engineers and supervisors who run medium- and high-voltage work across several halls at once are the hardest seats to fill.
- 05
Mechanical and cooling
- Mechanical superintendents
- Liquid-cooling and CDU specialists
- Chilled-water and central plant engineers
- BMS controls engineers
Liquid cooling at data-center scale is new, so few engineers have delivered it. CBRE says a liquid-cooling conversion can add more than six months to a programme.
- 06
Commissioning
- Commissioning managers
- Commissioning agents, Level 1 to 5
- Electrical and mechanical Cx engineers
- Integrated systems test leads
Commissioning is a travelling job: 55% of US contract data-center professionals work away from home. Cx leads who have run integrated systems testing, and will move for the next one, are in short supply.
- 07
Handover and operations
- Critical facilities managers
- Chief engineers
- Critical environment technicians
- Site operations directors
Operations teams are hired before turnover. Microsoft's first Fairwater building in Wisconsin runs with about 550 full-time staff.

Where the campuses are going up
- Northern Virginia
- 2,420 MW under construction and vacancy at 0.24%. Still the largest market by installed capacity.
- Atlanta
- 2,882 MW under construction, up 52% in a year. Now the busiest construction market in the country.
- Texas
- Stargate campuses in Abilene, Shackelford County and Milam County, and 765 MW under construction around Dallas–Fort Worth.
- Louisiana
- Meta's Hyperion campus in Richland Parish, planned at 5 GW with a peak workforce of about 5,000.
- Central Ohio
- Columbus and New Albany, with vacancy at 0.1% and Meta's Prometheus campus at about 1 GW.
- Wisconsin
- Microsoft's Fairwater campus at Mount Pleasant, building through 2028, and a 1.3 GW Stargate site at Port Washington.
- Indiana
- AWS at New Carlisle, past $13.8B invested, with a further $15B announced for northern Indiana.
- New Mexico and Michigan
- Stargate sites in Doña Ana County (2.2 GW) and Saline Township (1.4 GW).
Both sides of the contract.
- Owners and operators
- Hyperscalers, AI labs, chipmakers and utilities: owner-side construction, engineering and facilities teams.
- Developers and colocation operators
- Development, power procurement and delivery leadership.
- General contractors and design-builders
- Project, site and MEP leadership on mission-critical work.
- Electrical and mechanical contractors
- Superintendents, project managers and engineers for the largest trade packages.
- Commissioning firms
- Cx managers and engineers from Level 1 through integrated systems testing.
- EPCs and equipment makers
- Substation, interconnection and field-service engineers.
Built for build schedules.
